Parallaxi and “Thessaloniki Allios”: Unity in strength

Parallaxi, the historic free-press of Thessaloniki, published for the last 22 consecutive years, has undertaken through its action “Thessaloniki Allios” (Thessaloniki Differently), an active role in the daily routine of the city the last 2 years.

15 initiatives of urban activism have made suggestions for a different confrontation of established perceptions about issues that concern all citizens. These are cultural, social, architectural actions that are sustained to the concept of the wider synergies.

More than 300 groups and teams, 2000 participants, 400 volunteers and approximately 100,000 spectators constitute the action “Thessaloniki Allios”. This action has intervened at the Port and other public areas with actions of social solidarity and the first week of design “Made in Thessaloniki”.

Anniversary action within the sea front

The sixteenth action of “Thessaloniki Allios”, the urban experiment that Parallaxi has been organising since the summer of 2010, concurs with the second birthday of this urban experiment which is going to be held on Saturday, 9th and Sunday 10th June.

It is one of the most ambitious projects that has been organised until today and it concerns the “discovery” of the unknown seafront of the city, which spans from the Aretsou beach until Macedonia Airport.

Saturday 09th June 2012

  • The birth of a beach (10:00-16:00)
  • Boats on the shore – Shipyard (12:00- 14:00)
  • Ideas and Suggestions for the coastal front (12:30-14:30)
  • Life at the Farm (17:00-22:00)

Sunday 10th June 2012

  • The fish market of the city (12:00-15:00)
  • The wellbeing of the shore (12:30-16:30)
  • Party on the beach (19:00-24:00)
